Living near Lake Murray, there is never a shortage of outdoor fun, but as the cooler weather rolls in, it’s nice to spend some time together indoors. Here are my top picks for indoor winter fun this season.
The Grand
Located on Main Street in downtown Columbia, this indoor boutique bowling alley offers classic games, a restaurant and bar, and of course, bowling! Beginning on December 21st, The Grand is also starting Fun for the Holidays, adventure and excitement for the kids during holiday break with games, golf lessons, bowling and art. Nickelodeon Theatre
Bring the family to the old-fashioned, art house movie theatre offering a more intimate experience with better prices. There are two small theatres, and patrons can indulge in a glass of wine or soft drink, popcorn and candy while taking in movies such as A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood or Honey Boy. EdVenture
The largest children’s museum in the Southeast with hands-on exhibits and Eddie, a 40-foot educational jungle gym, EdVenture is sure to delight and excite all of your little ones! Through December 22nd, the museum offering a special treat where kids can see Santa in action coming down a chimney LIVE, meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, and enjoy sock-skating in Sockafeller Center. In January, there’s no place like Edventure when Snowville returns for indoor fun with snow-tubing, sock hockey, snowy experiments and more!
“Jump into the holidays” at Plex in Irmo with HiWire Trampoline Park with a Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course, ice skating, game arcade and an inflatable play area for children under 12. Hours of indoor fun sure to help warm up the cold winter days!
South CarolinaState Museum
Explore four floors of fascinating exhibits on the state’s history, art, natural history, science and technology, traverse the universe in the digital dome planetarium, have a unique 4D movie experience and more at South Carolina State Museum at 301 Gervais Street in Columbia. There are also some seasonal upcoming events sure to please with Santa Days, Polar Express Party, Winter Break Camps, Winter Fest and the Enchanted Tea Party.
